The Characteristics: ER320LR has a composition similar ER320, except that carbon, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur levels are at lower levels with columbium and manganese specified at a narrower range. The low melting residuals are limited in this alloy to reduce the possibility of micro fissuring making ER320LR often preferable for the welding of 320 stainless steels. The Application: Its corrosion resistance also finds uses in the chemical, food, pharmaceutical, and plastics industries. It resists pitting and chloride ion corrosion and its copper content protects it from sulfuric acid.
