RLM 70 Black Green Color Guide:
RLM 70 Schwarzgrun was added to L.Dv. 521/1 at the time of the first issue of this directive in 1936.
RLM 70 Schwarzgrun was to be used together with RLM 71 Dunkelgrun in the green camouflage of Luftwaffe aircraft, which was first applied to the Bf 109 in 1937. The lower surfaces in accordance with this camouflage were to be painted in RLM 65 Hellblau. Thereafter, this scheme was widely used for Luftwaffe aircraft of all types. However, in 1940 RLM 70 Schwarzgrun was replaced by RLM 02 Grau in this scheme for fighters such as the Bf 109 and Bf 110, while bombers used this RLM 70/RLM 71 green camouflage scheme until the end of World War II.
In 1944, the RLM 70 Schwarzgrun was to be replaced by RLM 82 Hellgrun according to Sammelmitteilung Directive No. 1, but most German bombers continued to use the RLM 70 / RLM 71 camouflage until the end of the war.
RLM 70 Black Green was also used for painting the propeller blades and spinners of Luftwaffe aircraft.
