Green Glue is a viscoelastic damping compound that converts sound energy into a minute amount of heat. When used between drywall layers, the compound works to isolate the noise traveling from one room to the other. |
Green Glue Noiseproofing Sealant is used to fill gaps and joints where the wall meets the floor or ceiling, and where two walls meet. Use it to reduce noise transmission beyond what is already accomplished with the compound. |
Green Glue is great for DIY family projects, hotels, offices, home theaters, recording studios, bedrooms, wood/tile floors and anywhere you want some peace and quiet. It reaches peak performance 30 days after application. |

Sound Transmission Class (STC ) is an integer rating of how well a building partition attenuates airborne sound. The STC rating figure very roughly reflects the decibel reduction in noise that a partition can provide.
Use Green Glue between layers of drywall or plywood to add 9 STC points to walls & ceilings. Third party acoustical tests demonstrated an STC rating of 56 using Green Glue in a standard single stud wall with common drywall.
NOTE: An STC rating of 55+ ensures that not even shouting can be heard between floors.
Each 29 oz. tube of Green Glue covers 16 sq. ft while one tube of sealant covers approximately 50 ft. Green Glue can be used over any existing wall, floor or ceiling by simply adding another layer of material to reduce sound transfer. Apply with a standard large size caulk gun in a random pattern for cost effective application.
