Working on a kail wood structure, the artisan adds papier mache to start a meticulous process that will transform the item into a glamorous decorative box. After polishing every corner for a smooth surface, Niyaz chooses a palette of blue, green, yellow and red hues to bring the leafy and floral motifs to life, evoking the ethereal aura of those ancient regional complexes. About our Artist: From Kashmir, Niyaz has fond memories of his childhood and was inspired by the natural beauty of his town. My father was a weaver and he really worked hard to bring us up. One day, when I was about 15 years old, I was venturing out in the open and I saw some amazing paper mache boxes. So I decided to learn it too. I started working on this art and it felt great! My father had a shop for his shawls and scarves, so I would also show my creations there....
