●Extended for 2022, the Hornby Dublo locomotive range features a selection of locomotives that ensure the tradition lives on. The Hornby Dublo LNER, A4 Class, 4-6-2, 4900 ‘Gannet’ is included in stunning ‘Garter Blue’ livery, along with other new additions to the range. Produced in diecast, each locomotive body has a restricted production run of just 500 models
●As one of the last A4 locomotives to be delivered, the LNER 4900 ‘Gannet’ was built in 1938 and was one of many named after swift birds
●Renamed ‘Sir Ronald Matthews’ in 1939 and then renumbered No. 1. ‘Gannet’ which enjoyed 25 years’ service before withdrawal in 1963.

Description

LNER 4900 Gannet was one of the last A4 locomotives to be delivered, built in 1938. One of many A4 locomotives named after swift birds, in this case Gannet after the Northern Gannet seabird. The locomotive was liveried in the iconic Garter Blue colours and in 1939 the locomotive received the new name of Sir Ronald Matthews. In 1946 the locomotive was renumbered No. 1. Gannet enjoyed 25 years service before its withdrawal in 1963 under its second name.
