Before put driftwood into fish tank, you should do the following treatment:

Wash and clean the driftwood with brush.
Boil it in hot water for about 1-2 hours, to release the tannin, until the water color does not change. Repeat the steps if needed.
Soak it into normal temperature water, for days/weeks.
Take out and wash the driftwood.
Completely submerge the driftwood in a bucket with water, pressing the driftwood down with a rock , heavy glass cup etc, until the driftwood doesnt float anymore when the weight is taken off.
