This length is long enough that they will be sufficiently attached in the ground whilst using giving the fastened item maximum support
Eyelet and a hook at the top of the peg so you can either thread the tie down through the hole or loop it through where necessary
With there being a hook on the top of the peg this also makes them easy to pull out when deep in the ground as have an anchorage point on them.
Extra wide striking surface on the top of the peg this prevents the pegs from being split when driving into the grounds with a hammer or mallet
