A metamorphic rock, Amphibolite contains amphiboles, typically of the species hornblende, actinolite, and plagioglase. It is composed mainly of amphibole and plagioclase feldspars, and contains little to no quartz. Typically dark-colored and heavy, with the flakes of black and white giving it a kind of salt and pepper look.
