How to tell if it is genuine sheepskin
How we process our Sheepskin
Real sheepskin when burnt smells like hair burning, while fake sheepskin smells like plastic burning.
- It takes a 50 step process of tanning to convert a raw hide of sheepskin into a beautiful sheepskin hide. The most important step is to take out the existing oil texture from the raw hide.
- Then there is a shrinking stage which makes the hide more dense. After, there is a repeated step of dry cleaning to make sure the hide is spot free. We do not skip any of the 50 steps.
- A bad tanned sheepskin feels very rough and oily. Bad hide will also cause oil and color bleed onto your original seat.
