The RB3 Corner Shelf by Redblock is designed by remodel professionals - this shelf checks all the boxes.
It is made from one of the most durable grades of stainless steel available (316); unique in the world of shower fixtures.
It was designed to improve upon the standard triangle-shaped corner shelves which require a perfectly square shower corner for maximum stability. In contrast, the RB3 shelfs unique mounting tabs allow for extraordinary stability, even in non-square shower corners. The tabs also minimize soap scum buildup along the wall, maintaining a small gap for better water drainage. With finishing touches like a washcloth hanger and loofa hanger, the RB3 shelf stands alone as the perfect corner shower shelf.
Q: Can your shelf be installed in an existing tiled shower?
A: Yes. Our corner shelf is designed to be installed in the grout line of any existing shower OR new shower as long as the grout lines are 1/8″ wide or larger. For existing showers, you only need to remove two, 2″ sections of grout to allow room for the install tabs.
Q: From the product pictures it looks like there is a gap behind the shelf. Am I seeing things?
A: Yes, there is indeed a 3/4″ gap between our shelf and the wall. Only the 2″ install tabs are in contact with the wall. We designed it this way to prevent the common corner shelf problem of soap scum buildup in the corners. It also makes it a lot easier to clean.
Q: Why do you make your shelf out of 316 Stainless steel?
A: We at Redblock believe that the shower environment justifies the use of 316 SS because it’s where some of the harshest chemical cleaners are used in the home. 316 SS is much more corrosion resistant than regular 304 stainless steel so it holds up much better when harsh chlorinated cleaning products are used (like bleach).
Q: Can your shelf be installed in a shower with 1/16″ grout lines?
A: Our corner shelf can be easily be installed into a new shower with 1/16″ grout lines if you trim the tile below the install legs during tile installation. It would be more difficult to install into an existing shower with 1/16″ grout lines because trimming the tile below would risk chipping the tile. You should measure your grout lines beforehand because 1/16″ grout lines are often a bit bigger than 1/16″, so the tile below might not need to be cut.
Q: Can the rb3 corner shelf be installed if my shower corner is not square (not at a right angle)?
A: Yes! Because the rb3 Shower Corner Shelf has two protruding install legs, it can be installed in the corner of even the most wonky, non-square shower walls. You will probably need to adjust the spacing for the 2 installation legs slightly, depending on the corner angle.
