This is the complete first series of German State Loan Notes. While some the notes feature very simple motifs due to war and time pressure, the series also includes more ornate ones, such as the so-called “War and Peace” note. The notes are full of symbolism of victory, peace, fertility and a new beginning. Other motifs are the ancient deities and insignia of the empire.
