Description

The United States Kennedy Half Dollar is a 50-cent coin first minted in 1964 to memorialize the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. It features a portrait of Kennedy on the obverse (front) and the Presidential Coat of Arms on the reverse (back). The coin is made of a combination of metals, with the majority being a copper-nickel clad over a pure copper core. It has a diameter of approximately 30.6mm. The Kennedy Half Dollar was designed by Gilroy Roberts and continues to be produced for circulation today.
