FAQFAQ

Q1:Why are the new brake pads too thick resulting in no clearance? How to solve it?

A: Hydraulic brakes automatically adjust for pad wear and the home position of the pistons moves slightly out. When you change pads you need to push the pistons back and return the fluid to the reservoir, then pump the lever to set the correct level of adjustment for the new pads.

1). Twisting a flathead screwdriver between the metal outer edges of the pads, forcing them apart a bit.

2). Then you can use the small gap between the pads to wedge a big flathead screwdriver between them (carefully), push the pistons back in gently, and reset the calipers.

Q2:Why are my brake pads rubbing the rotor to make a loud squealing noise?

A:They rub a bit for the first couple of rides. A main reason is that the pads are so new(may be a bit thick, but not much) they simply need wearing down a little. You will need to break the pads in in any case and then try re-aligning the caliper. The rubbing will go away as the pads broke in.
