Description

.Developed and produced by the Mikoyan Design Bureau, the MiG-29 fighter model is a twin-engine medium fighter, also the first model in the history of the former Soviet Union to be defined as a fourth-generation fighter from the point of view of its design philosophy, and its prototype first flew on 6 October 1977. In 1982, the MiG-29 entered series production at the Moscow and Gorky Aircraft Manufacturing Plant, and began equipping troops in 1983. Designed with a lifting body fuselage and angular wing fusion, the MiG-29 has two below-axis engines with adjustable air intakes, a fuselage structure capable of withstanding sustained 9G overloads, pulse Doppler radar, and a comprehensive fire control and electronic warfare system, also armed with no fewer than six air-to-air missiles plus a cannon.
