Many divers experience an imbalance where their lower bodies tend to be more buoyant than their upper bodies. This creates a challenge in achieving a flat position, resulting in the need to arch their backs to compensate for the increased buoyancy in their lower body, causing their feet and legs to rise. This issue becomes even more pronounced when diving in shallow, cold water since the thicker wetsuits remain buoyant due to insufficient compression of the neoprene material at shallower depths, further exacerbating the buoyancy disparity in the lower body.
Traditionally, divers have used ankle weights to address this problem. However, those weights were often excessively bulky, failed to fit securely against the body, and lacked the necessary streamlined design for freediving. In contrast, our lower leg weights offer a perfect solution for divers seeking to overcome buoyancy challenges.
Each weight measures 1.5 lbs and can be easily released by pulling on the exposed cord. The rubber straps with buckles ensure a snug fit and prevent the weights from shifting during dives. The dedicated sheath securely holds one weight on each leg, keeping them in place.
Please note that when calculating your overall weight requirements, the two lower leg weights must be included in the total.
This product is sold in pairs and includes 2 low-profile rectangular weights (1.5 lbs each), two sheaths, and 4 rubber straps with buckles.
