1/4" dovetail Japanese style chisel with stained Beech handle These dovetail chisels are made by Narex of the Czech Republic. The blades are made from fine-grained, nicely tempered chrome-manganese steel and hardened to Rc 59. The blade edges are ground with acute 35 degree angles to provide excellent clearance into the tight corners of dovetails. The primary bevels are ground at 25 degrees. Blades are 5 inches long and have a hollow on the back similar to those found on premier Japanese chisels. Handles are stained beech and 5 1/4 inches long, 1 1/4 inches in diameter and have 2 antique solid brass ferrules. Overall lengths are 10 1/4 inches. The blades take and hold an excellent edge.
