OPERATING INSTRUCTION

STEP 1. Be sure to turn off water heater firstTurn off the power to the water pump, gas supply, and electrical power to the water heater. |
STEP 2. Remove anode and drain water heaterUse the 1-1/16" socket wrench to remove the anode rod, which also serves as a drain plug. |
STEP 3. Rinse water heaterRinse out the sediment from the bottom of the tank thoroughly. Allow tank to fill up a bit and let all the water flow out a few times. |
STEP 4. Replace new anode rodeApply PTFE tape to the threads of the anode to ensure a good seal. Replace and tighten securely with the socket wrench. |
Notes:
- To prevent you from getting hurt, sewage splashing, always turn off the water heater, cool the hot water and relieve the pressure in the tank before you are ready to service the water heater tank!
- To extend anode rod life, drain water from the tank whenever RV is not being used.
- Avoid any extended time of non-use with water in tank.
- The suburban water anode heater rod doubles as a drain plug.
- Wrapping Teflon (PTFE) tape around the top of the anode rod nut will allow it to be installed on the tank a little tighter.
- For the safety of your water and your familys water, it is recommended that the anode rod be replaced every 6 months.
