- FUNCTION OF NITROGEN OXYGEN SENSOR:
The function of the nitrogen oxygen sensor is a sensor for detecting nitrogen oxides in diesel engine exhaust. The nitrogen oxide sensor will upload the detected nitrogen oxide concentration data to the on-board computer (ie ECU), and the ECU will control the urea injection volume of the SCR system according to the data, thereby reducing nitrogen oxide emissions and realizing OBD monitoring of SCR components.
How to replace NOx Sensor?
- First, need to power off the whole vehicle and check power supply of wiring harness before replacement, otherwise disconnection fault may be prompted.
- Second, need to delete the original fault code after replacement, otherwise engine fault light may not eliminate automatically, recording the original fault.
- OBDII diagnostic unit will not display sensor value immediately after replacement. Generally, NOx sensor start to work only if exhaust gas temperature reaches 180℃ or more after starting the engine. It takes about 30 minutes while parking, but driving can speed up the process. If environment does not meet the appropriate operating conditions, nitrogen oxygen value will display as 0PPM or 3300PPM error values,etc.
- For some of cars, need to carry out data verification with special equipment and tools after replacement of new parts.
