●HIGH QUALITY - Rugged 14 gauge strong steel (not cheap zinc) nailhead MIG welded to a 1/8" thick and 3/4" long shank ensuring nails wont break, bend or damage when being struck by a rubber mallet.
●INSTALLATION - Pre-drilling is not required but recommended for projects that require accurate spacing (drill size 7/64” for ½” depth). Simply strike the other side of the nail to correct tilting that might result from a misstrike.

Borderland Rustic Hardware is driven to create top-quality hand-forged iron products, including our clavos decorative nails for exterior and interior use. We work with a select group of designers to create custom-made hardware to fit their needs best. We are focused on creating quality hardware that will function and last for many years. Our iron hardware can provide value to your project by enhancing its overall level of craftsmanship. Our decorative nails come in rustic and antique styles with durable finishes. Use clavos and nails for trim, garages, upholstery, tapestry, doors, and more.
To install the nail, it is recommended to use a rubber mallet and lightly tap them into the wood. If it is hard wood, you might need to pre-drill pilot holes first. If you are going to drill pilot holes, we recommend the screw diameter of 7/64".
To select the best finish for your project, you need to keep in mind the environment the nails will be in. The black finish is the only finish that we recommend for exterior use. The sealed finishes can be used outside, but we recommend the nails have limited exposure to direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will shorten the lifecycle of the seal and can cause the seal to turn slightly yellowish in color. If you use the sealed nails outside, you will need to recoat the nails with a sealer from time to time. It varies depending on the elements they are exposed to. We recommend using Rust-Oleum Painters Touch 2X Ultra Cover Matte Clear Spray for resealing our nails. The unfinished clavos will eventually oxidize over time, especially if they are exposed to high humidity levels. Nails with our rusted finish are oxidized and have a residue that can rub off.
