A Self-Piercing Rivet also known as SPR mechanical joining process is used to join two or more layers of material without the need of predrilling a hole. The mechanical joining of sheet materials is achieved by a process similar to spot welding. It is done by inserting a rivet and cold-forming an interlock. A technician will clamp the sheets and press our self-piercing rivet through the top layers of material to drive the rivet into the bottom layer. These self-piercing rivets (SPR) can be used with a variety of SPR guns and manual tools available for installation.
