I first tied this fly two years ago in preparation for a trip to the CO and the beautiful WY Tetons. To my amazement, this fly ended up on my rod for the entire trip and was responsible for almost every fish. Since then I have continued to work with this fly - changing small aspects of it. Now, I am happy to say this fly is ready for you! I was struggling to name this fly, but during a guiding trip earlier this year, one of my clients suggested The “Colorado Killer” and it stuck! I have fished it in six different states across the country and it hasn’t let me down. It is versatile, tied to last, and a has a unique design that that I believe is the key to its incredible success. Is it the hot spot, inverting bead, golden pheasant tail, or the turkey biot body? I don’t know, but it works!
