8.5x11 Inches Lokta Card Stock Paper with Cornflower Petals (100 Sheets Pictured) - available in 25, 50, or 100-sheet packs.
A Special Tradition - Following a handmade paper-making tradition of over 1,000 years in Nepal, these 8.5x11 inch card stock sheets feature beautiful cornflower petals added during the creation of the paper.
Sustainable Paper - The paper is made from Lokta bushes which grow in the Himalayan mountains of Nepal. When cut, this tree-free bush grows back quickly, making it a sustainable source for the paper. The fibrous inner-bark is cooked into a wet mash and then spread by hand across boxed screens. The paper forms as it dries and hardens in the Himalayan sunshine.
A Beautifully Unique Texture - Lokta paper has a unique texture with one side showing the intricate pattern from the screen used to create the paper, and the other side, called the sun-kissed side, shows a more natural and varied texture. Lokta paper has a fabric-like feel making it a special choice for invitations, thank-you notes, or other special greetings. Due to the unique way the paper is created against the boxed screens, the cornflower petals will generally be more prominent on the "sun kissed" side of the paper.
For Special Projects - Create your own cards or special invitations with handmade lokta paper. Use it for scrapbooking or special art projects, or even making your own journals, the possibilities are endless!
A Great Gift for Paper Lovers - Send that special someone the gift of lokta, whether its a handwritten note on lokta paper or the whole pack as a gift! The fibrous nature does allow for some feathering and ghosting if writing with pens with heavy ink.
Go Natural - The paper contains natural flecks from the lokta bark which add to its character, making each card unique. Kathmandu Valley Co. paper is 100% lokta. Give your project a taste of nature and a beautiful handmade touch.
The oldest surviving Lokta paper is a copy of the Karanya Buha Sutra Buddhist text, estimated to be 1,000 to 1,900 years old.
Lokta Paper is still used today for official Nepali government documents and has been produced in a similar fashion for centuries.
Thank you for being a part of a tradition that spans over 1,000 years of handmade paper making in Nepal.
