Description

Common Questions:

What is agate made of?

It is usually formed from volcanic or metamorphic rocks made of chalcedony and quartz. Agate has been valued all the way back to ancient Greece when it was used in jewelry and seal stones (stones used to impart a seal onto wet clay or other materials).

Will I receive the item pictured?

Not in the general selection choices, these are just a general representation of items to be shipped. Please take a look at the group picture of bookends for the size and color group you are interested in. It will give you an idea of the shape and color varieties we have. We will do our best to pick a special piece for you!

If you select a set of bookends noted WYSIWYG however, that means you WILL get the pair that you see. We offer this option only for the more rare colors and shapes; you can select exactly the one pictured. There will only be 1 in stock in this case.

Are the colors of the bookends natural?

The color is not natural in the highly colored bookends, these have been dyed to provide a special match for home decor, giving you many choices.

If you see the color listed as "Natural" the stones have not been dyed. These stones are usually tan, gray or blueish in their natural state. We have seen a light purple amethyst color in some natural bookends, but it’s very rare.

Please be aware that the color you see on your computer may not exactly match the bookend due to different monitors color calibration. We do our best to provide a picture that represents the color as best as possible.

Note: These bookends have been made by the earth and have natural lines and cracks that were created as the agate was formed.
