For macOS users
With the arrival of the macOS Big Sur 11.0& M1 chip, the operating system applies a stricter security policy to (any) software that requires kernel extensions aka kexts ("kexts" - think of it as a macOS version of "drivers"). The driver installation includes a system extension that is affected by this policy. As a result, the user has to explicitly enable/allow this system extension within Security & PrivacyPrivacy in system preferences (after installation and before the software is allowed to run).
macOS Catalina 10.15 & macOS Big Sur 11.0: With multiple displays enabled, you may experience issues with (multiple) screen recording.
For Windows users
Q: The USB C docking station does not appear to work at all, has stopped working, or you receive the message "USB device not recognized" when connecting on Windows.
A: Follow the steps below to try and diagnose if it is a hardware problem.
Q: Is your device compatible?
A: Ensure that your laptops USB Type C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery.
Note: If your device comes with USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 1, ONLY HDMI1 will not output signals. System Requirements: The host device (i.e., your laptop) must support Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alt Mode.
Ensure you have downloaded/updated your operating system to the latest drivers/version.
Q: There is no sound output from your device?
A: Plugging in the USB C Docking Station, change the default Audio output device to "Docking Station," which means the audio signal is connected to the docking station. However, your laptop speakers will stop working. To re-enable your laptop speakers as the primary audio source, change your laptops audio output device back to your laptop speakers.
(Windows users: START>SETTINGS>SYSTEM>SOUND: then change output / macOS users: System Preferences>Sound>Output: then change production).
Notice:
1. Standard USB ports not recommended for charging USB devices.
2. To ensure a stable connection, please connect the power adapter for the laptop before using the printer/hard drive/SSD or other power consumption required products.
