The Super Water Absorber kit is a fun, interactive way to introduce students, children and adults to the concepts of absorbency, polymer, gel and osmosis. Kids will be amazed when they see the superabsorbent sodium polyacrylate soak up more than 500 times its weight in water and turn into gel! This sodium polyacrylate powder, also referred to as the diaper powder, is used in babys super absorbent diapers and other types of absorbent under garments. The kit includes a 35 gram bag of poly sodium acrylate (or sodium polyacrylate), a spoon and a detailed guide for 4 experiments with explanations of the chemistry observed. The material in the kit is non-toxic when used as directed. Other items needed for the experiments (but not included with the kit) are cups, water, paper towels, salt and old lids or saucers.
