This is a block of four stamps as pictured.... Issued in 1982, as part of the Great Americans stamp series, honoring the political scientist Ralph Bunche. The Great Americans Series, honors special Americans from all walks of life for their contributions to society and their fellow man. During the 1949 Palestine conflicts, Bunche acted as a mediator between the Israeli and Arab nations. For his service, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1950 and became the first Black American to ever to receive this illustrious award.
