Description

SPANK SPIKE FLAT PEDALS The Spike Pedals from Spank have been specially designed for thrill-seekers who need a glued-on feeling of extreme grip, making pedalling not only effortless but also more powerful with every rotation. Boasting an impressive 12mm thin forged MGR aluminium body which is seriously strong and provides maximum pedalling clearance thanks to the design putting your foot closer to its axle. The axles are made from forged hollow tapered CrMo construction which makes them robust and weight a lot less than other materials, weighing in at only 420g per set. The pedal design features 20 steel pins in a special configuration that offers outstanding grip without adding any more thickness to the overall pedal. The spikes are finished with an aesthetically pleasing and highly practical chamfered leading edges, which deflect rock and tree root strikes to help you maintain control and speed. The oversized industrial sealed bearings and IGUS bushings guarantee smooth performance and outstanding durability. At just 12mm in depth (excluding pin height), these are a very slim set of pedals. The Spikes feature chamfered edges (leading edges and sides) to improve clearance and reduce the impact of those inevitable pedal strikes. The Spikes are constructed from a cold forged alloy pedal body, with a hollow taper scandium enriched steel axle and spinning on a sealed outboard IGUS bushing. What does all this mean? The cold forging process means a better strength-to-weight ratio in the alloy, and axle is heat treated for strength and stiffness. The IGUS bushing and inboard sealed bearing is what allows the pedal to be so thin (as these are accommodated by the flare in the pedal body close to the crank arm).
