Ambipooly. Simply a better reedAmbipooly. Simply a better reed

THE 2nd GENERATION SYNTHETIC REED HAS ARRIVED

For over 100 years, when it comes to reeds, woodwind players have been subject to the whims of Mother Nature and the variances of quality in available cane stock. It is our belief that a sustainable alternative to natural materials must be found. That alternative is AMBIPOLY.

AMBIPOLY is made from a 2nd generation synthetic material specifically engineered for musical applications - the first of its kind. It behaves remarkably like cane: The material absorbs water, adapts to the mouthpiece facing, and is completely adjustable with typical reed tools. AMBIPOLY is unaffected by variances in temperature, humidity or altitude. AMBIPOLY reeds will play exactly the same every time you pick up your horn, and with proper care will last for an extraordinary 12+ months. This is an unprecedented value for woodwind players!

AMBIPOLY Saxophone reeds are offered in two different profiles:

Injection Molded

AMBIPOLY is the first synthetic reed made with military grade, double injection precision molding. This process ensures accuracy and incredible consistency from reed to reed.

The reed is created from two distinct polymers, an inner polymer that mimics the spine of a typical cane reed, and an outer polymer that creates the body.

Absorbs Water

AMBIPOLY is the first ever synthetic material designed to absorb moisture. Moisture ads harmonic coherence to the sound and is key to a familiar reed experience.

The reed will absorb 2-3% moisture when soaked for 30 seconds or so.

Climate Independent

AMBIPOLY reeds are not affected by temperature, altitude or humidity. The reeds will perform uniformly and consistently wherever your music takes you. From the marching field to the concert stage, from sea level to the Rockies AMBIPOLY has you covered. Say goodbye to reed worries!

Mouthpiece Pairing

AMBIPOLY behaves remarkably like cane. After several minutes of playing, the reed will pair itself to the mouthpiece, learning the facing of the mouthpiece and adapting to the embouchure of the player. Once the reed is paired with the mouthpiece, it will play consistently the same on that mouthpiece for months.

A FEW AMBIPOLY GUIDELINES:

WET THE REED::

AMBIPOLY works best when its wet. Place the tip and vamp in water for 30 seconds to a minute before playing to hydrate the reed. Dont submerge the reed fully.

PAIR THE REED:

In the first 15 minutes or so of playing, the reed will begin to learn and adapt to the facing of your mouthpiece, as well as adapting to your particular embouchure. This process can take significantly less or more time and will vary greatly between mouthpieces and players.

PLAY THE REED:

Once the reed is paired with a particular mouthpiece, it will play consistently for several months. Should you change mouthpieces you will need to go through the pairing process again. This doesnt affect the reeds life expectancy.

ENJOY THE REED:

The absolute key to a positive experience with AMBIPOLY reeds is to spend the time necessary to break the reed in and let it settle. If you follow this basic process, you will have a much more rewarding experience with AMBIPOLY.
