Advent calendars, oftentimes also referred to as “Countdown to Christmas” calendars, help to build anticipation for Christmas. The history of the Advent calendar dates back well into the 19th century, when children used chalk drawings to mark each of the days before Christmas. Today’s traditional Advent calendars, enjoyed by people of all ages, are made of paperboard and feature 24 perforated windows to open. One window is opened each day beginning on December 1st and ending on Christmas Eve. Upon opening each window, a fun and appropriately themed holiday picture is revealed. Some Advent calendars also include a verse or other text to accompany each picture. Our chocolate Advent calendars also include a delicious piece of milk chocolate crafted in a fun holiday shape!
Vermont Christmas Company is proud to offer the world’s largest selection of Advent calendars, and the superior quality of our Advent calendars is unrivaled. In addition to traditional paperboard Advent calendars, we offer chocolate Advent calendars, fabric Advent calendars, Advent calendars with stickers, Advent calendars to color, and more. Today, folks who grew up with Advent calendars are passing the beloved tradition on to their children and grandchildren. So, if you haven’t already, bring this charming Old World tradition home to your family and, together, you’ll surely create treasured memories.
