Step 1 MeasureMeasure and mark where the first cedar block will be installed at the tallest point. |
Step 2 Apply a Sealant when Installing the Trellis on the Side of a BuildingApply a marble-sized blob of sealant, such as DAP, to the hole where the pointed screw is located, then install the tallest block of the trellis. (Apply sealant on all the additional blocks before screwing them onto the building.) This is to protect your structure from water damage. |
Step 3 Install the First BlockInstall the first block using a #2 Phillips bit on your drill gun. Pilot holes are not required, just hold the block where you want it and start screwing in place. Only install the screw to a snug fit, allowing the block to rotate. |
Step 4 Adjust the Second Block to Adjust the Trellis LengthRemove the screw and (2) plastic button fasteners from the second block while being careful not to drop the pieces. Re-install the buttons through the mesh at the desired trellis length. |

Step 5 Wrap the Excess Mesh Around the BlockWrap the end of the trellis mesh around the cedar block and pull the block until the mesh is straight. Start the screw on a slight angle until screw starts to bite. (see the diagram for more details) |
Step 6 Ensure the Mesh is TightWith the screw partially installed, rotate the drill gun to drill the screw straight into the structure. The mesh should be tight. Then completely install the screw in place (for both the top and bottom blocks). Refer to the diagram, next, for guidance. |
Diagram Demonstrating how to Wrap the Mesh and Ensure the Mesh is TightThis diagram shows how to rotate the drill gun to drill the screw straight into the structure so that the mesh is tight. # 4 Diagram shows excess mesh to be trimmed by scissors. #5 |
Trim Excess Mesh and Install the Mid-Block Support if NeededTrim any excess mesh with household scissors (also shown in the diagram of Step 5) Install the “mid-block” support when the overall trellis exceeds 6 feet. |
