Description

* For Delivery Time: Expect 1-2 Business Days for Handing and 3-4 Business Days for USPS First Class Mail* This is a set of 10 multicolor wish bands from Salvador Brazil, which I came across while traveling the country and on a tour of the region. Wish bands are nearly everywhere in Northeastern Brazil: People wear them on their wrists; taxis, buses, and other drivers hang them from the rearview mirror; and they are also often tied to balconies, light posts, or other areas around the house, and they provide striking color around the city. Legend has it that Senhor do Bonfim (Lord of the Good End) grants wishes to those who wear bracelets. Recorded along each of the colored bands is a slogan, "Lembranca do Senhor do Bonfim da Bahia" which translates to "Remembrance of the lord of Good End, savior of Bahia." Wish bracelets are said to offer good luck and ward off evil. Wearing a wish bracelet is simple: Have a friend wrap the ribbon at the wrist. Tie three knots and make a wish with knot. You want to keep the bracelet on until it falls off naturally. In Salvador, these bands are also frequently tied to rear-view mirrors, hung on balcony railings, or otherwise attached to various fixtures and monuments. The colors include one of each: Orange (Joy and Enthusiasm), Yellow (Success and Intelligence), Dark Green (Money and Growth), Turquoise (Love and Peace), Dark Blue (Health and fertility), Red (Strength and Passion), Hot Pink (Friendship), White (Wisdom and Inner Peace), Purple (Spirituality), and Light Green (Life and Renewal). The main photo and the last 2 photos in the ad are exactly as they will arrive to you. These are "wide" style, about 16mm across for a broader fit across the wrist. I also have a "classic" style, that is 9mm across for a slimmer fit.
