Ampersand Art Supplys Museum Series Encausticbord is formulated for the unique demands of encaustic painting and mixed media. Encausticbord is made from our premium warp-resistant 2" profile FSC-Certified Hardbord that is sealed and protected with our proprietary Archiva-Seal and coated with a specially formulated gesso to form a bright, smooth, velvety surface that is ready to use for encaustic painting. The ground is heat resistant, highly absorbent, and holds tight to layers of wax without the fear of cracking or separation. Encausticbord is a collaboration between R&F Handmade Paints and Ampersand Art Supply. Only Ampersand builds cradles by hand with premium-grade, 13-ply birch plywood for maximum stability and a clean, finished look from edge to edge. Choose from 1/8", 7/8" and 1.5" deep cradles, offering support and presentation all-in-one. The velvety-smooth, absorbent Encausticbord surface is a great with pencils, charcoal, acrylic, collage, water-based markers and more.
