Chipboard is another term for fiberboard, which is made of multiple layers of ridged cardstock and most instrument cases from the early 1950’s up to today are called “Chipboard”. Note: Chipboard Cases are not to be confused with Hard-shell Cases (which are made of wood or plastic) or Poly-foam Cases (canvas covered Styrofoam). Chipboard is durable and is lighter weight and offers more protection than a basic nylon gig (guitar) bag.
