Handmade in PennsylvaniaOur custom "gill" design on the front actually serves as a vent that helps prevent bats from overheating! Incorporated directly into the Super Rocket Roost exterior, this will provide limited, but necessary air?ow that will allow bats to move throughout the house to regulate their internal temperature during the day. |
Easy InstallationEach Super Rocket Roost comes fully assembled, with a roughened wooden baffle core enclosed by a weatherproof plastic outer hull. Designed for convenience, the Super Rocket roost slips directly over any standard-sized 4 x 6 post, and is ready to be installed in less that 30 minutes. |
Safe and Hospitable to BatsRocket boxes are highly successful and perform better than many other designs. During the testing phase, our Rocket Roost had big brown bats occupy in less than 10 days at one site, while at another location little brown bats were recorded the first time it was surveyed 45 days after installation. |
Our Rocket Core contains a combination of both "wedge" roost crevices and more traditional vertical baffles. With roost crevices available on all sides of the Rocket, bats are able to follow the sun around the Roost if desired. The larger mass of the Super Rocket Roost retains heat longer into the night and provides more crevices to sustain a greater number of bats. Enclosed in 1/4 thick heavy-duty outdoor UV-resistant plastic, the outer hull of the Rocket Roost provides the protection needed for a no-maintenance roost. Great for large mitigation projects when a number of long-term roosts are necessary, the Super Rocket Roost is the ideal choice when function, ease, and cost-effectiveness are top priority.
The fungal disease known as “White-nose Syndrome” has killed millions of bats in North America, forever changing the bat population landscape. Rocket Roosts tend to attract small families of bats but of a wider range of species, whereas larger traditional nursery bat houses tend to attract a large number of just a few species. Some bats prefer smaller, more discrete roosts due to their protection from predators and reduced parasite load. With that in mind, we recognize that one bat roost does not fit all, and are proud to offer the BCM Rocket Roost as a maintenance-free complement to the nursery style bat houses available today.
Fortunately, one of the best ways to aid these helpful animals is to provide them will additional living space. By setting up a bat house on your property, you are not only helping keep harmful insects at bay, but also increasing the amount of available bat habitat, as well as providing additional roosting opportunities for bats raising young!
