The Head Kore 85 W is a fantastic all-mountain ski for ladies that spend most of their time on groomed or hard-packed terrain but want more versatility than a narrow, frontside carving ski. These skis are super light, so they’re perfect for ladies who might be sick of their heavy system skis and want something that they can feel comfortable on all day. This year, Head revamped the construction in each ski in the Kore collection and they are now lighter and damper than ever before. These skis use a Karuba and Poplar wood core which keeps things light from the get-go and gives the ski a nice lively feel. Added to the core are a number of different composite materials that really give the ski it’s robust feel. The main difference in construction this year is that instead of using Koroyd, Head uses their new Damping layer which reduces weight and improves vibration damping ultimately leading to an even light and more stable ski overall. Hard to believe, quite honestly, but they sure nailed it. Being the narrowest in the lineup, the Kore 85 W features the least amount of rocker and taper but there is still just enough to give the ski some nice forgiveness. Even though they are quite stiff, they wont punish you for your mistakes. These skis are best suited to groomers and hard-packed snow, but they can certainly take you on the occasional adventure off piste when you want start to feel a bit more ambitious.
