Description

This Absinthe set contains the smaller Absinthe fountain "Petite", two Absinthe glasses, two Absinthe spoons and a bag Absinthe sugar cubes. The Absinthe fountain (French "Absinthe Fontaine") has 2 instead of 4 taps and is slightly smaller in size, which makes it easier to use and stow after use (we also offer larger Absinthe Fountains with 4 taps here on the marketplace, keyword "ALANDIA Absinthe Fountain"). The fountain is easy to clean because the taps can be unscrewed completely. They are made of silver-plated plastic so that the glass is not damaged when the taps are unscrewed or screwed in. The Absinthe set also contains two classic "Pontarlier" Absinthe glasses. They are handmade (no machine pressed glass), have a beautiful cut and a reservoir integrated in the foot (1.3 oz) to measure the correct amount of Absinthe. The glasses are an authentic reproduction of 19th century antique originals. Despite their filigree design, they are robust and can be washed in the dishwasher.

Besides the glasses the set contains two traditional ALANDIA Absinthe spoons "Classic". The spoons are made of stainless steel and are also an authentic reproduction of antique originals. They have a diamond-shaped spoon surface through which the sugar drips together with the water into the Absinthe during the Absinthe ritual (more information about the Absinthe ritual can be found in the paragraph below). The sides of the spoon are slightly bent upwards so that the sugar cube has a stable position on the spoon. The curvature of the handle ensures that the spoon fits snugly on the edge of the Absinthe glass. These small details contribute to the high functionality of the spoons. Each spoon weighs 0.53 oz / 15 grams, i.e. they lie comfortably heavy in the hand. This distinguishes them from one or the other lower quality Absinthe spoon made of aluminium or sheet metal. As they are made of dishwasher-safe stainless steel, a long service life (and beautiful appearance) is also set.

The Absinthe fountain set is completed by a large bag of Absinthe sugar cubes. The cubes are somewhat smaller than conventional sugar cubes and have a lower press density. This makes them dissolve better when they get in touch with water. Each set also contains a drinking instruction card that explains the Absinthe ritual in detail. All in all this Absinthe accessory set convinces with its premium quality and provides a stylish and traditional Absinthe experience!

Quality Note: The ALANDIA Absinthe fountains are made in Europe by a glassblower manufactory with a long tradition. They are distinguished from visually similar fountains by their precise manufacturing without craftsmanship defects (there are no crooked taps, asymmetries in the glass or too thin glass, which can lead to predetermined breaking points). You will not be dissapointed by its quality.

How to serve Absinthe with a fountain:

Fill the Absinthe fountain with ice cubes and water. Fill the Absinthe glass with Absinthe (1 to 1.3 oz.). Place one sugar cube on the spoon. Now open the spouts of the fountain and ice-cold water drips on the sugar cube(s) on the spoon. Slowly the drops dissolve the sugar.

Absinthe Glass: Handmade original Design

The set includes 4 handmade (not pressed) ALANDIA Absinthe glasses "Pontarlier". They are the epitome of an original Absinthe glass. The glass design is world renowned after being featured in a painting made by Charles Maire for the most popular Absinthe of the 19th century, Pernod Fils. The Pontarlier glass has a reservoir in the stem to measure the correct amount of Absinthe. Like former originals it is nicely cut, to give it a premium and nostalgic look. If you are looking for an original Absinthe glass, the Pontarlier glass is the definite winner.

Absinthe Glasses: The History

The Pontarlier Absinthe glasses got their fame through a Pernod Fils advertisement from the 19th century. The artwork decorated French bistros at the time of the Belle Epoque.

Absinthe Fountain: Mouth-blown Glass

The Absinthe fountain is made of mouth-blown glass. This improves the look as you do not have any manufacturing seams. It has a removable glass lid for easy handling and cleaning. Two spigots enable you to enjoy your glass of Absinthe with a friend(s). Preparing Absinthe with an Absinthe fountain is a real event. Your friends will love the authentic experience of drinking Absinthe!

Absinthe SpoonAbsinthe Spoon

+ Original Absinthe Spoons

The set includes as well 2 ALANDIA Absinthe spoons "Classic". The Classic Absinthe spoon has the same design as a popular vintage original. The nicely decorated front shows perforated slots to let the Absinthe sugar drip into the Absinthe glass. The spoon is made of durable stainless steel and is polished for a supreme finish.

Absinthe Sugar CubesAbsinthe Sugar Cubes

+ Individually wrapped Absinthe Sugar Cubes

The set includes as well a large bag of individually wrapped Absinthe sugar cubes. The ALANDIA Absinthe sugar cubes are less pressed than regular sugar cubes. Therefore they dissolve better during the Absinthe ritual. They are nicely packed in a brown paper bag. The bag comes with a clip for easy resealing. Overall these sugar cubes drive your Absinthe preparation to perfection.
