Description

Item no. 510006580 item description: 1:35 US M-7 Priest Howitzer Self-Prop. The 1:35 stand model of the US M-7 Priest Haubitze, which was used by the US artillery during the Second World War. After the innovative use of mobile artillery by the German Army at the beginning of the conflict, it was widely recognised that artillery guns must be as mobile as tank battalions. The Allies first mounted their first self-propelled artillery units on semi-chain vehicles, but the most effective solution was shown with the introduction of the M7 priest. Using the hull of the M3 Lee middle tank, the M7 was armed with a 105mm M2A1 hoist. He was first used in 1942 by British troops who gave him the nickname "priest" as the machine gun was in front of the vehicle resembling a church cockin. Robust and reliable, it had plenty of ammunition and provides an effective indirect support fire. It was used in the course of the war both the American Army and the US Navy on all fronts. Length of model: 17.2 cm
