A BIT OF "NEED TO KNOW" When Working With Any Concrete Texture Rollers Or Stamps...

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS ON USE OF SBC TEXTURE TOOLS - (If These Basic Steps Below are followed, This Roller/Stamp Set, as well as most all texture rollers and stamps, will work GREAT, just as they are supposed to and have been proven to work for over 50 years in the industry.

STEPS:

1. MIX THE CONCRETEand apply to surface. {Follow mixing instruction from concrete mix you purchased.}

2. APPLY Release Agent: YOU MUST USE RELEASE AGENT. If you do not, the concrete will stick to the texture roller or stamp. Orderless Mineral Spirits is the best to use. You can purchase mineral spirits at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, etc. When using: Apply mineral spirits to the roller or stamp, sometime if needed you can also lightly apply to the concrete surface you are texturing. NOTE: Do NOT use water as a release agent, this will water the concrete down too much and the design will not turn out the way you desire.

3. TEXTURE CONCRETE: Allow Concrete to set up a little, for most mix products, this will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes. (Cooler temperatures will take longer, sometimes an hour or longer.) The concrete should have a clay like firmness. Once your concrete feels like clay and your roller or stamp is sprayed with release agent, spray generous amounts on the clay-like concrete, then roll the roller over the surface or stamp your surface with the stamp.

4. CLEAN CONCRETE BEFORE COLORING: After concrete is completely dry, before you color your design, you need to clean off the mineral spirits. Use a soft bristle broom or micro fiber towels after thoroughly rinsing with a low pressure, pressure washer or a common spray attachment for garden hoses. Pre-soak surface, use broom or micro fiber towels to scrub loose all of the release agent, then rinse very thoroughly. Allow to completely dry before coloring.

5. COLOR PROCESS: Allow Concrete To Completely Dry and Set Up. Once dry and set, you can now begin the coloring process step of your design. We recommend the coloring process is done after the concrete texture design is completed. We do not recommend Pre-Coloring of concrete. 2 Reasons: 1, Unless you are a seasoned Concrete Contractor who has vast experience working with decorative concrete materials, more times than not, the color turns out different than you intended and there’s no way to correct it unless you start over. This will waste a lot of material and cause unnecessary labor. 2, most times, the color does not mix all the way through and when you pour and trowel down the concrete, sometimes you end up with blotches of missing color. Again, the only way to fix this is to start over. THE BEST Coloring Method is to color your concrete after the concrete is dry and set up. We offer video training and are very happy to share this with you. Just reach out, if you need additional help!

6. LAST STEP: Sealing. NO MATTER WHAT, you will need to seal your concrete project if you want it to last long and be easy to maintain. Different products require different sealer. Also, depending on whether your concrete product is for outdoor use or inside use, will factor in on what release agent you should use. If Outdoors, (Driveways, Patios, Pool Decks, Walk Ways, Boulderscapes, Landscape Designs, etc.) you cannot use Epoxy Sealers, they will fade and turn yellow within time, no matter what a sales person tell you. Outdoor sealers should be Solvent Based Sealer Products. If Indoors, (Countertops, Coffee Tables, Concrete Sinks, Concrete Flooring, etc.) Epoxy Sealers are perfect to use and look the best.

As a reminder....IF YOU NEED ADDITIONAL HELP, We are very happy to help and make sure your project is a Success!
